The Rollo family have taken a tired and skanky neighbourhood Chinese takeaway and transformed it into an atmospheric pint size addition to the Stockbridge bar and restaurant scene – and there is not a prawn cracker in sight!
There are maybe only 12 or so tables and a minuscule bar, but what it lacks in size, it certainly doesn’t lack in character. You will get a great welcome, and they have created an interesting menu of bites, bowls and plates. You are free to mix and match these tapas style, or eat as traditional courses. The haggis bon bons are a delicious starter dipped in the accompanying whisky marmalade. However, not all dishes have a Scottish theme, with modern British to South East Asia influences mixed with local produce.
For a memorable meal and a warm welcome, Rollo hits the spot. It is certainly proving to be popular with the locals, so a reservation is a good idea. The Stockbridge original has been so successful there is now one in Broughton Street too.
