This neighbourhood Chinese restaurant has become something of an Edinburgh institution over the years. The decor is basic but the food is absolutely superb and very different from what you would expect from a standard Chinese restaurant. It specialises in dumplings but its menu contains many other delights. My favourite time to come here though is lunchtime, for their unlimited lunch menu. This is no all-you-can-eat buffet with food stagnating on a hot plate though. Food is made to order and delivered fresh to your table, with an excellent selection of dumplings, noodles and other side-dishes on offer.
My favourite dishes are the (very hot!) hot and spicy noodles, the crispy potatoes with spring onions and the fried beef and chili dumplings- wash these down with an ice cold bottle of tsing tao and be aware that you will probably find it hard not to order more, so it is probably best to cancel your dinner plans!!
