Once a quite questionable area of Edinburgh, unknown to tourists, Easter Road – which joins Leith and Abbey Hill – is one of the city’s most up-and-coming zones and one of my favourite spots for coffee! Home to the Hibernian Football Club stadium, you can expect Easter Road’s pubs to be pretty packed on a Friday and Saturday, and are especially buzzy during home matches. Significantly cheaper than the city centre, a night out on Easter Road won’t leave you out of pocket – and will also allow you to get to know the locals. One of my favourite pubs along the street is the Mash Tun, which is also known for their burgers.
Further towards the top of the street, you can find a host of independent cafes and bakeries, with delicious coffee for very reasonable prices. Italian-run Polentoni has, in my opinion, arguably the best coffee in Edinburgh, and is a great place to people-watch outside in the summer months. Not to mention that it is located next door to one of the city’s cutest gift shops, Cloud 9, where I have spent many hours going over the bespoke jewellery and cards that they have to offer.
