In central Florence, only a short distance from Ponte Vecchio, a small bar that spreads warmth and friendly vibes. Amblè serves fresh fruit and vegetable juices, drinks, sandwiches and salads. Drinks wise, for me nothing beats the spicy Bloody Mary on a Sunday afternoon, but I’ve seen that the Amblé Spritz with Martini is very popular among other guests, or the daily specials. The triangle shaped sandwiches can be custom made or chosen from the menu. As a Swede I’m a salmon lover so for me that’s always a safe choice. At Amblé there’s self service so don’t expect anyone waiting on you all the time, but no worries, there’s rarely a long line to order at the bar.
This is the place to go when you want to be in the easy company of local Florentines and have a break from the traditional Tuscan scene. The setting is very relaxing in a quiet little courtyard with stone walls around it. The furniture and decorations are fun and retro and almost everything is for sale. It feels like a hidden little oasis just a few meters from the busy and crowded main street of Florence. Obviously, on the weekend it can be more of a challenge to get a table, especially in the late afternoon to early evening or Sunday afternoon for brunch. But I say the more the merrier!
