The time for outdoor cinema in Florence has arrived! This year it’s the 9th edition of “Apriti Cinema” which takes place in the piazza of the Uffizi gallery. From June 26th till August 8th, 46 films will be screened in their original languages (with Italian subtitles and also English when specified).
This film series is probably my favorite thing about summers in Florence. Because of the unbearable heat, most Florentines who remain for the summer tend to live primarily at night. With the option to see an outdoor film every night for more than a month, I can’t think of a reason not to check it out.
The films to be screened are selected from film festivals that have taken place in Florence throughout the year, such as Lo schermo dell Arte, Middle East Now, and Festival del Popolo. Plan to get there early if you’d like to find a seat!
