It took me a long time to enter this small restaurant – I was not attracted by Avanti’s sign advertising “Pizza and Grill.” I thought it was one of the many Arab eateries you can find all over Florence.
One day, I met my Lebanese friend I hadn’t seen in a long time who told me to leave my doubts aside and just go – because it is an amazing restaurant. So, the next day I went there and I fell in love with this place.
Despite the simplicity of the ambience, the food is amazing, well cooked and presented. The menu is pretty short but they do also have some daily specials.
My favourite is their tajine and I always call in advance to check if they have it, as it is not on the menu. I tried the skewers and, damn, they were amazing. Be prepared to drink only water or soft drinks, as there is no alcohol served in this eatery.
