Florence will shine during the night for this year’s festival that will be dedicated to the genius of Leonardo Da Vinci. The monuments involved in this year’s Light Festival will be Ponte Vecchio, Palazzo Vecchio, Palazzo Medici Riccardi, piazza Santa Maria Novella and Oltrarno’s district. There will be particular attention paid to the monumental Towers and Doors of Florence, just outside the city center.
Last year, I had a map, I studied what to see and planned an itinerary… Well, don’t do like I did! Just walk and let yourself be surprised from what you don’t expect. This is what I’ll do this year!
What I appreciate the most in the last years have been the light games on Ponte Vecchio bridge and the big whale on San Lorenzo church. What I wait for this year are the lights on the old Doors that surround the city center.
I’m quite excited about walking around the city centre that will be full of colours. I just let myself wander about, watching the video mapping, light games and installations on the facade of the historic monuments.
During the festival there will also be organized special educational activities organizes, special museum openings, shows and meetings.
So: have a walk around Florence at night and you’ll probably feel like you’re in a fairy tale!
The Light Festival will be from the 8th of December until the 6th of January.
