I have a special attachment to this bar, I used to have breakfast here on my way to school for five years straight. Sadly in the last few years this bar closed and opened several times, due to management changes, and each time it lost something until it wasn’t even worth going to. But finally in September 2015 passing by Piazza Ferruci I noticed a new sign, and I couldn’t believe my own eyes: It has been completely renewed and refurnished.
With a very elegant lounge-retro style, chandeliers and frescoes on the roof, it is once again a pleasant place to go to. They have an incredible display of mouth watering cakes and pastries. What impressed me more is the staff’s professionalism and politeness, which today is a prerogative only in the most expensive and posh bars and restaurants.
You can tell a lot about a bar from the milk foam you find in your cappuccino, and the ones I had, were on point! To match your beverage I recommend the cornettos, sweet and crispy enough. But if you are looking for something more “energetic”, the custard fill in their bomboloni is just incredible. The budini di riso (a very Florentine pastry made with rice) are not as good as they used to be, but they are still in my Florence-top-ten.
l’Officina Ferrucci serves lunch and aperitivo, so enjoy your afternoon in their back-room with a glass of wine, from a good selection, and hors-d’oeuvres!
