For most weekend tourists sushi might not be the choice of food in Florence. But if you’re already well acquainted with the Italian kitchen or in town for longer you might be up for something different. Iyo iyo is a very small restaurant serving excellent and simple sushi in a typical Tuscany restaurant interior. There aren’t many seats so sometimes they put you in the trattoria on the other side of the street and bring the sushi there.
The menu is very concise and contains a few specialties. The “Kaiser Don” is rice with sashimi on top and these’s a Florence fusion with “lampredotto” (cow stomach) made in a very Japanese way. If you’re into trying new things you should definitely try it! The quality is great and the prices are excellent for sushi. It’s not elegant and there’s only “half way” table service. Some things you have to bring to the table yourself. But the ambience is warm and friendly and your tummy will be full and pleased when you leave Iyo iyo!
