Florence is a very expensive city especially if you think about restaurants located in the city center. But there is a small secret gem…the trattoria “Da Giorgio”. Located only one block from the main train station, not in the nicest of Florence’s neighborhoods, this place is a safety net for me and my friends when we hang out in the center and we want a good meal without spending a fortune.
The people working here are very funny even if they are always very busy. The menu is extensive with very delicious dishes. I love the pasta here. On Thursday evening there is a special menu from Abruzzo (a southern Italian region) in honor of the owner’s origins. If you get Silvano (the owner) to like you, you may get some of his special handmade herb liquor (that is not for sale) at the end of your meal!!
No reservations are accepted.
Ah, I forgot to tell you about the prices…€ 14 at lunch, € 15 at dinner…for a two course meal, water and wine included. Add € 1 if you want a coffee at the end.
