There’s a (relatively) new bar in the old Sachsenhausen district. It’s called Baile (pronounced Ball-ya), which is the Irish word for home, and has been the bold venture of two lads who decided to open a place when everyone else was closing. For me, Baile is a true bar: a place where people easily get to know you, where you are always approached with a smile, where you can go early evening for a quiet drink or later for a round with your mates. True to its name, Baile will easily feel like home to anyone who gives it a go. Baile does get an additional point in my book for the great taste in music of its owners – if you grew up to or simply enjoy listening to (especially ’90s) rock and britpop, you just can’t miss it.
I honestly enjoy Baile most in the early evening, where you can easily find me there with a beer and book. Yet it is a place where you can go in the afternoon during the weekend for a coffee, where you can have a romantic date or even where you can enjoy live music. That’s right! Sometimes they hold live music events, so check them out on social media to keep up with the news!
