It’s a real WOW when you take the elevator up to the top floor of a downtown car parking house and walk up the last ramp and a few steps to the rooftop! The CityXmas market has thousands of little lights to illuminate the stalls and the open-sky rooftop area topped by a stunning skyline view featuring Frankfurt’s skyscrapers from the best possible perspective. I love it and will probably never go up there without starting to make new series of photos again and again.
The choice of wines, Glühwein, beer, drinks and food is excellent, the lounge area is well organized with the standing tables in the middle. A traditional German mountain hut caters to groups and events during the Christmas season, but it’s possible to simply come and walk in for the CityXmas Market without a reservation, and it’s free!
The CityXmas Market starts early in the season, at the beginning of November (a bit too early for my personal Christmas mood!) and runs until after Christmas, December 31st (check their Facebook page for some exceptions!)
Take your friends there to impress them, and even real Frankfurters will like the view! And it’s a good option when the main Christmas Market around Römerberg closes early; this one has extended hours — weekends until quarter to midnight!
It’s on the rooftop of Parkhaus Konstabler Wache, if you come by car, take it right up to the top floor 5!
