Craving some goat cheese, ricotta-raspberry, poppy-seed or dark chocolate ice cream? Looking for a quiet break from shopping around Berger Straße? Take a stroll around the corner towards Luisenplatz and get the best ice cream around this neighbourhood at “Coccola”. It’s a cute little shop, almost invisible amidst the surrounding quiet residential area. They only have space for their ice cream counter inside, but they have some five deck chairs outside or you can just walk 20 meters to sit on the public benches of Luisenplatz (and engage in some serious people watching?).
Coccola’s ice cream is made from natural ingredients and without any flavour enhancers or chemical additives – which definitely explains the magnificent taste. If you’re unsure about any of the flavours, Coccola’s lovely staff is always happy to give you little tasting spoons before making an adventurous decision. I like that they change their ice cream selection regularly and that it gets a tad crazy sometimes: hay, bergamot, rice pudding… It’s always exciting to see what’s new!
