Frankfurt’s got talent! The cozy lobby of the Derag Living Hotel in Frankfurt Sachsenhausen has a real living room atmosphere. I go there for a coffee or a glass of wine, not only because it’s close to my home, it actually feels like a home, and I like the furniture and the design.
Every first Thursday of the month the place turns into a busy, buzzing event location, when the hotel hosts an Open Stage Night! To be fair, it’s not a real “open stage” as performers have to apply and send in their videos in advance, but that actually guarantees an excellent selection and really good quality of performances on the stage they set up especially for these events.
The show gigs are very different every time and there is always a great variety of different performances, normally 5-8, on each of the Open Stage Nights. I’ve seen musicians, solo performers, bands of all styles and even acrobats, dance shows and comedy.
At the end, of course, the audience has to vote and there is a winner. But I admit, I sometimes don’t even remember who won, they’re simply all great and really talented! It’s fun, not a real competition.
Entry is free, some people eat, but it’s mostly drinks & prices are moderate. Many seem to go & meet friends in groups, there’s many families and it’s just as good to sit at the bar or in one of the lounge chairs all by yourself.
Enjoy the show!
