Yok-Yok has two branches in Frankfurt: one in the middle of the district “Bahnhofsviertel” and the other one at “Fahrgasse” downtown. Both branches follow the principle of the German Kiosk (Späti), where you can mostly buy little things like drinks, snacks and cigarettes. However, the unique selling point of Yok-Yok is its combination of kiosk with art.
The branch in Bahnhofsviertel is famous among young professionals, who gather in and in front of the store on Thursday evenings for a few after-work drinks, and in a hidden backroom exhibits paintings from local artists. The new branch at Fahrgasse also offers tea and coffee and is a more cozy choice during an afternoon stroll in the city, since you can look at the paintings through the large window.
In either branch, I recommend a conversation with the very friendly owner, who has owned the shop for many years and is very knowledgeable in terms of art, chai tea, Frankfurt and political topics.
