Alma – Machu Picchu jet set

Apart from loving cozy coffee shops, it also happens that I love a good fancy cocktail and lucky me, Alma makes fantastic cocktails. Alma is a restaurant that opened approximately two years ago with very tasty but quite pricey dishes of Peruvian influences. I’ve only had dinner once at Alma with my team for the annual free Corporate Christmas dinner. I had the grilled octopus at 38 CHF and it was truly delicious. However, it is a bit out of my normal budget for a regular Friday outing. Therefore, I would rather recommend going for special events and occasions. I also suggest to try their lunch plate at 22 CHF or my personal favorite: going there after 22:00 on Friday evening to enjoy the trendy and hip atmosphere, the beautiful décor and the outstanding cocktails (all at 15 CHF). The pisco sour is to die for. The Pacha Mama is not too shabby either.

Despite claiming Latino influences, I personally find that Alma has a Manhattan, chic New York City vibe. Stepping inside, you almost instantly feel cool and part of a vibrant city, a big city that is alive and that is happening. When you can travel simply by entering a restaurant or a bar, that is already a big win.
