I love Southeast Asia, in particular because of the fantastic food. And I love Geneva for its great diversity in terms of restaurants. One of my favorite restaurants in the Plainpalais neighborhood is Le Mékong. Located on Rue de Carouge, this cozy and simple place offers great Vietnamese food with daily specials for a decent price. Everything is very fresh and prepared in front of you by members of the family that runs the restaurant. The interior reminds me of my trip to Hoi An – the colorful lanterns ensure an authentic and festive ambience.
I really recommend to start with the summer rolls with shrimp and as a main dish the vermicelli noodles with beef and spring rolls. Le Mékong is very popular and often packed – so you might have to wait a moment to get a table sometimes. I suggest going on weekdays when it is calmer.
A really cool and fun menu item are the spring rolls you roll yourself – not the easiest task but after the first couple of rolls you will be a spring roll pro. And do not forget: Bring cash, they do not accept credit cards.
