The Bains des Pâquis is the most beloved place in Geneva (check Bains des Pâquis article)! It is mine too. One reason is their Sauna!
Open from September to May, the Spa area is a wintry oasis in the middle of the lake. Hidden just behind the restaurant, it consists of two mixed saunas with views over the lake, one mixed Hamman, one Hammam only for women, one Turkish bath and one restroom. Finally, the lake (or showers) are at your disposal to refresh and swim!
Taking a dip in the lake is a must. But don’t be impatient; I generally need two sauna-sessions to feel warm enough to have a quick dip in the cold water. It is refreshing and worth it! Afterwards, lying on a deckchair, half-naked under the sun is paradise.
I generally go on the morning so I can have a full breakfast at the restaurant before sweating. After a few saunas I eventually have lunch as well. I usually also read a bit in the restroom and finish with an exfoliating session in the Hammam.
Tuesdays are strictly for women! On Mondays the entry is only CHF 13-.
Swimming suits are tolerated, but many choose to go in naked. At the desk, you can rent the obligatory 2 big towels, and flip-flops (I highly recommend them because of the cold ground), or bring them with you. Every guest gets their own changing cubicle with key. One heated changing room is available, as well as hairdryers.
