I’m not a huge fan of the Belgian traditional kitchen, but there is one thing I like. Meatballs.

Wim Ballieu has turned the traditional meatball into a fancy piece of food. At Balls & Glory, you can choose between two flavors everyday.

The handcrafted meatballs are actually filled with liquid filling. Rhubarb, green pepper, bacon-chervil, spinach, olive and asparagus are some of the choices you have. You can eat them with a coleslaw but I prefer the mashed potatoes with seasonal vegetables and two yummy sauces. You can take away as well.

There also have restaurants in Brugge and Antwerp but the Flagship store in Ghent was the first one. They recently moved to a new and bigger location. In the middle you can find a big table with seats for 60 people. Wim is a butcher’s son who wanted to use the global trend on appreciation of handcrafted food and traditional dishes. Balls & Glory was born.

What I like most about their meatballs is that they are filled with things I love.
