If you’re curious about the local population of Ghent, then you should definitely head to the city park when the sun is out, no matter which season.
This small park next to the much-discussed City Hall is a meeting place for young and old and a very tasteful setting to hang around. When in the city I love to have a short break on this small piece of green, right in the city's heart. Furthermore, it offers every passer-by the chance to sit back and relax the stunning view on the 3 famous towers of Ghent. From this angle you get a unique sight of the old and the new of this Flemish art city. The majestic towers dominating the landscape take you back to medieval times, while the contemporary architecture such as the City Hall are a reality check of 21st-century art.
Getting a bit philosophical, when lying on this little green spot, makes me go back time after time.
