You have come across Belgium’s best cocktail bar, Jigger’s, and it happens to be based in Ghent (lucky us).
What makes this bar different from the others?
Let’s start with the entrance. It is so secretive that even the neighbors forget it exists. You can’t just walk in; you have to ring the bell first. Make a reservation in advance, because the places are very limited — especially in the weekends, it is advised to make a call.
This little bar has won a lot of awards for their amazing cocktails. Their concept is very simple: they change their drinks menu every week, and the menus are handwritten. Every cocktail is an artwork created with an eye for detail and you can choose from a few of them. Don’t expect a mojito, but instead some surprising combinations. If there is nothing that you like, they will make you something of the flavors that you like. But I doubt it.
The bar has a classic vintage look from the ’30s and the bartenders are top professionals. The prices are a bit more expensive than at the average bar but they are worth it. Better a very good one than two average cocktails, don’t you think?
