You have probably seen them while from outside somewhere, the luxurious hot dogs.
Ghent follows the trends when it comes to food and we didn’t have to wait a long time for it: Wurst was born. Well, not really, because the first one opened in Leuven at the other side of Belgium. So let’s say a sister was born. The owner opened one in Ghent a year later and another one in Antwerp. It’s not a chain. Every restaurant is decorated different and has a particular charm. It is located in a street with dozens of restaurants where it is always very hard to choose what you will have for lunch.
I only went a couple of weeks ago because I wanted to go when the hype was a bit over. It is very popular among students. Although the price is a bit high for our budget. So I went with my sister who is vegetarian. We thought that they should have at least one vegetarian option. Surprisingly you can get every haute dog in a vegetarian option. We tried the Mexico ’86 and it was damn good. The hot dogs are filled well. You won’t be hungry afterwards, which is what I was afraid of. You can choose sides as well, like potato wedges and hummus. Guess where I am going now…
Oh and the food is very photogenic!
