Empire Cinema Glasgow

Empire Cinema – Cosy cinema, great butter popcorn

This is the last Empire Cinema in Scotland. It was opened in 1985 as part of the Clydebank Shopping Centre which was built on the former site of the Singer Sewing Machine Factory on Kilbowie road.

The first occasion I went to Empire Cinema in Clydebank was to see the recent Oscar awarding winning performance by Joaquin Phoenix in Joker. I’d recommend getting into the theatre early to get yourself a good seat up the back as it is a small but cosy theatre to watch a film in. And if you are sneaky enough, you could nip into the local ASDA to buy yourself a nice craft beer to enjoy the film with.

It is a brilliant wee cinema with 10 screens and I love coming here for the butter popcorn. Honestly, it has the greatest butter popcorn I have ever encountered in a cinema in Scotland. For that alone, your next cinema trip should be to Scotland’s last remaining Empire Cinema.
