The International Bar is a bit out of the way in the Glasgow’s Southside in an area known as Polmadie. The secludedness of the bar does not detract from the worth visiting the International for a pint.
This pub can be found on Aikenhead Road which is about a 10-minute walk from the vibrant Govanhill along Calder Street or just a half-mile stroll from Crosshill train station.
The real draw for this pub is not only the pint and the lovely staff but the plethora of brilliant football memorabilia that decks the walls throughout the bar. From Queen’s Park souvenirs to Scotland keepsakes, there is plenty to feast the eyes on. I like coming in here for a pint of Tennent’s and choosing a different seat with each visit to allow the eye to take in all the old tokens from Scottish football past.
Keep an eye on the football fixtures because if you happen to be in this bar on game day at Hampden, you’ll be thrown amongst the Tartan Army and before you know it you’ll be kitted out in a kilt, Saltire painted face and rosy cheeks from a long day of drinking and camaraderie.
