Tajura Cafe is a great place to sit outside and people-watch in Finnieston or sit inside and enjoy the brilliant decor. There’s an old dentist’s chair, a living room with a style that’s undefinable, a snug for playing chess, and some interesting symbolic painting on the walls. It reminds me of a squat I used to have in London – lived-in and loved. The coffee’s great – if you’re sitting in, you’ll get it in china cups and saucers or you can take it away. Can’t comment on the cakes cos I haven’t tried them yet, but the baklava looks good.
The cafe is named after the owner Akram’s hometown in Libya – he’s got a better Glasgow accent than a lot of folk here. The music is always fab and the playlist – which changes regularly – is available on Spotify. Friendly staff and a laidback atmosphere make this a great place for quality coffee in the West End.
