Yippon is a well-lit, beautifully decorated and cosy Asian eatery situated in George street, Glasgow, not far off from George Square. It was once a popular stop-off place of mine from work.
I am very much a sushi fan, so for me this place is quite the treat. They have a wide range of different sushi platters available, as well as hot foods such as noodles, soup, or rice dishes.
While in the food sense it is closer to an old-school yet surprisingly trendy cafe, it also very much like a coffee shop - they do include a range of coffee on their menu, hot chocolate, and bubble tea!
The venue is not only popular for its sushi and hot foods, but for its unique and experimental soft-serve flavours. I recall once having charcoal ice cream - initially, I found I was utterly fascinated by the slate-grey colour of the dish. Upon tasting it, I also found the ice cream, while tasty, has an interesting gritty texture from the charcoal. While this did take some getting used to, I was pleased to have tasted it because it was a surprisingly tasty and unique ice cream.
While I do enjoy this place very much, it has to be said that it is a little more on the expensive side, as the ingredients are very authentic and place less emphasis on additives and sweeteners, so it is nice for a treat now and again.
