No matter what time of day, no matter what your belly is craving – this place has got your back. As a mixture of bar and restaurant, you are offered a small but still delicious menu. Start your morning with some French Toast (or as Germans call it: Armer Ritter/poor knight) soaked in dulce de leche and covered in mascarpone and strawberries. Maybe add a tiny little mimosa with freshly pressed orange juice just for fun. Or do you prefer some Eggs Benedict with asparagus and peas? What about an Asian-inspired interpretation of the classical Hamburg Labskaus for dinner with flavors like kimchi and wasabi mashed potatoes, perhaps followed by a sweet casserole with Franzbrötchen, strawberries, rhubarb jam and tonka beans? Finish your evening with highball classics like Pisco Sour or Moscow Mule.
Originally, this place used to be a butcher’s shop owned by the family Berschneider and the restaurant’s name Berta Emil Richard Schneider originates in the German phonetic alphabet. Nowadays you will find a combination of old, traditional recipes with a new twist and international influences – the menu changes regularly, but you will always find some vegan or veggie options.
