Eichbaumsee – Idyll at Dove Elbe

This beautiful picture was taken by a good friend and here you can see that Hamburg not only is about wind and rain. I love the summer in Hamburg and how its surroundings create some magic. It is unfortunately forbidden to swim in this particular lake, but you can have a walk around it or relax at the water side.

If you want to cool yourself down just follow the paths to the Dove Elbe. This Dove Elbe is a kind of sidearm of the main river Elbe and it offers all the fun you can have in or at the water. You can swim around, dangle your legs in the cold water or find some ropes to jump into the river. If you have a permit, you can go fishing, as well. The great thing about this place is that it is not packed with people. The Dove Elbe is around 18 kilometers long and everybody can find a personal, private spot for some peace. Sometimes sport boats are passing by and when you are lucky you can spot some fish or other water animals. Nature lovers and active people will love this place.

To get here, you can just make your way to the metro station Billstedt, which is accessible via the U2 line. You can then walk or take bus 230, just ask the driver to tell you where to get off!
