The fish halls were famous a long time ago, at the moment they’re often used for other things, but there are still some food stalls left like Fisch & So. In the middle of all those pretty similar food stalls at the harbour you can find this small bistro – which looks like a former fish shop. The menu is small: Fish sandwich (best!!) with Matjes, fish cake, salmon, … or fried fish with fried potatoes or potato salad.
The times when the interieur looked nice are long gone, the staff is friendly in the Hamburgian way: cool, distanced, straight. Always up for a “Schnack” (small talk) about the windy weather in Hamburg.
If it’s sunny try to catch a bench outside. It’s lovely. Even if it’s way too cold. During lunchtime sometimes it’s pretty crowded sometimes resulting in one not getting a place. Wait a bit, it’s worth it. One of my favorite spots.
Check out the other places around as well!
