This very chilled café/pub can be seen as one of Hamburg’s answers to the beer gardens in the south of Germany. As always, we don’t want to copy them but wish to do it our way. You will not find loads of drunken people eating greasy food, but folks from the quarter gathering together to have a coffee, wine or beer.
There are wooden benches and tables outside, deck chairs and bar stools or little couches with pillows, so that everybody can find their favorite furniture to seat in. If you get hungry, they serve good baguettes and snacks as well as very delicious Tarte Flambee (try the salmon one!).
Since rents are high around this place many neighbors use the connected Else-Rauch-Platz as their outdoor living room. While parents are chatting you can see a lot of kids playing around, other people doing yoga or just lying in the grass. I really love to watch the diversified goings-on, even if I just take a rest on a bench after a long day of work. This place is directly located next to metro station Lutterothstraße, so it’s very easy to access. And hey, in summertime there is a great fleamarket on every last Sunday of a month.
