Whenever I miss some Barcelona mood for a moment in Helsinki, undeniably Finland’s international and multicultural capital, Bar Cón (Flemari) provides the salvation! The authentic and atmospheric tapas bar on “Flemari” in Kallio is just the right place to enjoy delicious and well-prepared Spanish treats in the style of Catalonia and Basque Country.
Bar Cón’s menu consists of different Spanish classics, including many veggie options and excellent pulpo, that make me happy. But el xef Javier Ahedo has clearly paid his dues, since these portions have been made creatively with impressive know-how to really stand out! No wonder he used to work in Michelin-awarded restaurants until founding his own place here. On after work hours (Mon-Fri) you can even have Basque-style pintxos, which you won’t be easily finding anywhere in Finland.
Besides all the good food, Bar Cón serves luscious drinks from Spanish wines, beers (they have even Moritz on tap!) and cocktails to the biggest selection of vermouth in Northern Europe. On lively Friday and Saturday evenings, it only gets better, as you will be entertained by groovy top-notch deejays, too!
I can easily spoil myself and spend a small fortune in Bar Cón, if I feel like it, but it will be worth every cent. But there’s nothing wrong with also coming for just a treat or two and some drinks. I will be pleased anyway!
Bar Cón has another restaurant upstairs in Kamppi shopping mall in the heart of the city center.
