Juttutupa is one of the places in Helsinki that almost everyone knows and people from all walks of life go to. It’s also one of the oldest pubs in Helsinki. The word “pub” doesn’t exactly fit to this place, I think. It does feel more like a living room, (granted, a very big one) where you go and have a chat with your friends while enjoying some beer or wine. That MAY have something to do with the fact that “Juttutupa” basically means chatting room.
It’s in a way a typical beer house, with a good selection of beer (though I have to admit, I’m really bad at beers, so you’ll be better off consulting the professional staff… wine is more up my alley). The menu that they have goes nicely with the beer and wine, so you definitely don’t have to stay hungry.
What I really like about this place is that you never know what kind of people you see there. It’s a hub for the Finnish art folks and you might see some “celebrities” there too. (Celebrities in quotation marks, because they might not really mean much to folks outside of Finland). There’s also quite often live music at Juttutupa, so that’s a nice added bonus.
