A while ago, Helsinki got a new hotel added to the selection. It’s called Lilla Roberts and it’s quite centrally located and has a pretty interesting history. The building was built in 1909 and was the base for the Police of Helsinki since the 70’s, until a couple of years ago. Then it became available again and now it has turned into a stunning hotel.
But I’m not talking about the hotel more at this point. It IS a great hotel and staying there would definitely be a good experience. In addition to the actual hotel, the premises now include a new restaurant; Krog Roba. It’s part of the hotel establishment, but everyone is welcome to eat there. I’ve noticed that it’s picked up customers pretty well as the last time I tried to go in, it was packed and I had to change my plans. That was the weekend though, so a reservation in advance would have made a difference.
What I do have experience in though, is the lunch and that totally had me convinced. The food was great, the surroundings are pretty spectacular and the company was good, so everything was in order. I had lamb at that time, but the menu has since changed and it’s no longer on the lunch menu. The lamb on the à la carte menu seems amazing too and I’m dying to try it soon.
The place has really won me over.
