I have to start by saying that this is not necessarily my favorite restaurant because of the food per se. It’s good of course, but I’m not that big of a fan of fish usually. The reason why I love this place is that it floats. It’s located in the Eläintarhanlahti (zoo bay) and the whole restaurant is on water. I know it may sound stupid, but I love it because of that and because of the atmosphere that creates.
It’s a fairly new restaurant in Helsinki which opened in April 2015. The process of getting the restaurant approved and done took approximately ten years, but finally the floating restaurant became a reality.
And the food, it is good too. As a fish restaurant it does focus on fish food, obviously. But not to worry, if you are like me and fish is not your ultimate favorite, the restaurant does serve other options too. The duck was my choice the last time and I definitely can’t complain.
During the summertime it has of course been a really magnificent place, because the view is really nice. I’m curious to see how things will look during the winter season. The place does serve lunch and dinner, but for dinner, you might want to make a reservation in advance to secure a table.
