Places like Pastor only prove again that the culinary scene in Helsinki is booming, the quality level of the food in these kinds of up and coming fine-dining-in-casual-atmosphere-restaurants is high. Whereas Helsinki was never really famous for innovative kitchen or particularly exquisite food, the last years that has completely changed.
Formerly a Cuban style nightclub and bar, the place has been completely revamped and turned into a classy, Scandinavian-ish cool new urban hangout. They serve food with a Peruvian/Asian influence that is absolutely delicious (and filling!), along with a mouthwatering selection of cocktails. They recommend sharing all their dishes, as being social and spending time together with people is what Pastor’s concept is aiming for.
Also the service is excellent, which is something I rarely notice like that! Fast and super friendly, even attending to my silly extra requests (sorry for that) with a smile. The set menus to share are a great way to experience the different varieties in their offer, especially because it’s so hard to choose something from the regular menu. The prices certainly make it something for a special night out rather than a spontaneous dinner – yet it’s worth every cent and I guarantee that you won’t be disappointed.
Reserving a table is definitely recommended!
