Taste of Helsinki day is literally my favourite festival of the year. Helsinki has many exquisite restaurants where a tasting menu can easily cost as much as my rent (well, almost) – so eating there isn’t really an option all that often, so we save it for special occasion. So, if you’re a food-lover on a budget or not, this festival is just right for you!
High-class restaurants from Helsinki and the area each prepare tasting portions of their three signature dishes which you can try for €4 – €6 each (in addition to the entrance ticket), so you can set up your own menu from the most interesting restaurants. Every year the chefs surprise us with something new and exciting, and I feel like this festival really sets the tone for the Nordic food trends to come.
Getting to try the best of the best from the best restaurants in the city is truly an experience I don’t wanna miss. I get excited like a little kid the second the restaurants and their menus are published! You can also join wine tasting, cooking classes and many more exciting foodie experiences.
They call it a “boutique picnic”, so the tents and booths are set up in Töölönlahti park, just behind the railway station. There will be lots of food, drinks and jazz music. I can’t wait!
