Opera and ballet. Those are two things that I did really not see being “my thing”. But that was some time ago, when I was young and restless. Well, I think I’m still both of those to a certain extent. I have liked theater from a pretty young age though and have been part of a theater group as a hobby. So in that sense, taking it up a notch and exploring a bit of opera and ballet is not that surprising.
Anyway, I can’t yet claim that I would be a regular at the National Opera, but I have been there a couple of times now and don’t plan to stop going. Last December I saw the Nutcracker, which was just fantastic. And a couple of weeks ago I saw Tosca. I found both of them highly entertaining and worth the ticket.
About the tickets… You can get those online, but I’d almost recommend stopping by at the service desk if you’re not really sure what type of seats you’d like and so on. There’s a pretty big difference in the seat types. Also some shows, like the Phantom of the Opera, seem to be sold out for a long time in advance, but you might be able to secure a ticket or two by going and asking at the service desk. It is a really nice experience and I can definitely recommend it.
