Asmalımescit -rising from the ashes neighbourhood of Beyoğlu- has begun hosting a new gem: Beyoğlu Şaraphanesi. Şaraphane means wine place. It’s the next-door neighbor of Narmanlı Han, one of the most important historical buildings in where lived extremely valuable Turkish authors, poets, musicians and painters of the last century.
Besides its location, the most remarkable point of Beyoğlu Şaraphanesi is the interior design. From top to bottom, it’s very well designed. Retro furnishing, brick walls, antique objects, long, round dining tables with candelabras, chandeliers, dim light and a great fireplace… It’s so obvious that they have acquired a very well refined taste.
The wine selection and all the local cheeses are amazing. I was very impressed by not only the decoration but also the menu. The meal selection is also varied, numerous and reasonably priced as well.
Sitting in front of the fire by having a glass of fine wine is a big pleasure for me. My office is also in the area of Şaraphane, which makes me feel very lucky.
