When I go abroad, I’m checking the city’s markets. Their concepts, street food and their local people always attract me.
My favourite market in Istanbul is an antique market. It’s only open on Sundays. You can find many kinds of traditional antiques. (Not only from Turkey but also from other countries.) Old cameras, utensils, tea sets, paintings, old toys etc. In the corner of the market, you can find a place to eat organic “borek”. It’s a kind of patty including potatoes, spinach or cheese… If you want you can mix two or three of them. 3 women work there, one makes the dough, the other preps and the last one cooks…
Sometimes we’re only going there to eat breakfast at this corner. In front of the corner, there is a woman who sells fresh juices. Fruits are changing seasonally. Last time I went, she served a peach juice.
By the way, on Saturdays, there is an organic food market. If you’re interested in that as well, you should go :).
