As a subdistrict of Taksim/Beyoglu region, Cihangir is a neighbourhood with a community of artisans and bohemian cafe/bars. Geyik is one of those spots on the bars street of Cihangir. The word meaning of Geyik is deer, as you can detect from the decorative items hanging around the place.
At nights, Geyik is a cocktail bar serving a great selection of recipes from their seasonal menu. It is one of the rare places I go for cocktails with traditional Turkish drink rakı. On the weekends, the packed crowd reach down to the street and people might have to remain standing but that’s okay, it’s how it is done in Geyik!
They also work as a coffee roastery in the afternoons. I usually drop by for a coffee to cure my hangovers. The bench facing the street is mostly free in the mornings and it serves plenty of time and space to enjoy my coffee and gaze at the people passing by.
