Hasanpaşa Gashouse, which had been providing the Kadıköy District and its surroundings for 130 years with gas, has finally opened as a cultural centre and a museum.
After seven years of hard work, Hasanpaşa Gazhanesi was brought to Istanbul and Kadıköy as a culture and art campus under the name Museum Gazhane. It is one of Turkey’s most important industrial cultural heritage and covers an area of 32,000 m². The space includes a climate and cartoon museum, a science centre, exhibition areas, theatres, libraries, game and activity areas, and other social areas.
It houses 6 exhibition/museum halls, 2 theatre/concert halls, performance studios, a library, an Istanbul Bookstore, 3 eating and drinking areas, workshops, co-working spaces and a parking garage.
