I have been following Marika Kurtuluş’s Instagram account for a long time and finally had a chance to have brunch in this retro-chic decorated cafe. Even when you look at the place from outside from the Street, you feel like you need to go inside.
I first fell in love with the soft pastel decoration as well as the big shared tables inside, the retro chairs and the flowers all around the place. They also have a fluffy ginger cat that you can’t help but play with.
I spent a couple of hours in Marika after I had my yummy and healthy avocado-poached egg sandwich with a very good brewed coffee.
They have a mostly organic and healthy menu, which is another reason to go to Marika as often as possible, since summer is approaching.
I very much liked this east Londoner-style cafe in Kurtulus and I’m sure you will enjoy this neighbourhood when you are looking to find Marika. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself right in the middle of the local residential area.
Kurtulus is definitely a place worth seeing while you are in Istanbul and at Marika you can enjoy the local atmosphere.
