SineBU is not your ordinary movie theater (for Istanbul, that is currently a soulless giant hall in a shopping mall, unfortunately). This one is located in Bogazici University and managed by the school’s cinema club. I feel so sad that it opened after I graduated!
SineBU screens a good variety of films in cooperation with Baska Sinema, a program aimed to give independent films more screen time. You can catch a film at SineBU for very reasonable prices – at 3 TL reduced, 12 TL full admission, I’m sure it’s the best value you can get. And, maybe the best thing is that there is no pop-corn or nachos here, thank you very much! If you’d like something to eat before the movie, go to the student cafeteria, Kantin, nearby and get yourself a tost-ayran combo to have the full student experience.
Check the screening schedule here. Make sure to have your student ID card if you want to get a reduced ticket. The campus map found online could also help in locating the hall. After the movie, you can head to one of Hisarustu’s many student bars, or hang out at the much nicer South campus.
Enjoy the movie!
