I’m not sure if you are aware or not, but several decades ago Ukraine was considered the main granary of Europe. The generous soil contributed to the fact that there was never a shortage of natural fresh products.
The country’s huge agricultural potential remains nowadays. I don’t know how things are with the exports of natural local products today, but I can point out exactly where you can taste the gifts of generous Ukrainian land.
In the quiet bar called “Like a local’s” (ear candy for local travel fans, if you know what I mean) the whole menu consists of fresh local goods only. Cheese plates and meat from local farms, artisan smoked sausages, amazing pies, fantastic desserts. It is worth it to try everything. My personal favorites are: the salad with beets and goat cheese, the spring rolls and also the candies with gorgonzola.
And the most important is to not forget to match this amazing food with the hidden treasure of Ukraine – the local wines. Yes, they are not so popular as Italian and French ones, but they definitely deserve your attention. I am sure that the wide variety of wines from the 13 wineries allow everyone to pick out a favorite for themselves.
Try the local, be like a local!
