Old Botanical Garden (Fomina) Kiev

Old Botanical Garden (Fomina) – A cozy spot

A small island of quietness in the center of a megapolis. I love its coziness and abandoned paths, covered by fallen leaves, almost like in a forest, especially on sunny days. The Old Botanical Garden is a perfect spot to walk among the old trees, to do some jogging, to read a book, to drink a cup of coffee with some street food or just to stay on your own or with friends, up to you.

It is a former botanical city garden, the first one in Kiev’s history. This park is located behind the Universitet Metro Station. In front of its entrance you can buy some snacks and coffee. There are a lot of cozy pathways with benches, a museum of the history of the Botanical garden, also an old orangery (greenhouse), covered by glass – an example of Soviet architecture. There are some guided tours – 120 UAH for a group of up to 7 persons max. (45 min. 11:00, 13:00, 15:00 except Mon, tel. +380442346056). If you are interested – you can also buy some seeds of the plants grown there.
