For all the contemporary art fans this is the main place in the city. With its own impressive collection and constant big exhibitions this art centre is definitely worth a visit. It’s a home for contemporary art of the 21st century and an open platform for the artists, the artwork and society.
Located at the end of the main city street – Kreschatik, next to the main market, in the Arena complex, it looks deceptively small. But don’t you worry – there are three floors of perfectly selected contemporary art – both of foreign and local Ukrainian origins. Please check the site for the up-to-date info on the current exhibition. Sometimes it can be closed while the exposition is changed. Guided tours (also in English) are available, as well as public lectures and talks. The museum shop is at your service.
Of course I like the exhibitions opening parties with “the entire city” (normally an evening before the official date of the exhibition’s opening), but I always come back later when there is no crowd, to spend more time and to see everything in detail.
The good thing – they have a nice eye-candy coffee place upstairs with a unique view, but also it is surrounded by different cafes, so you can easily find a place afterwards to discuss your cultural aftermath.
