If you want to try good, old-fashioned polish food you need to visit Grandma Malina. They’ve got two restaurants located close to The Main Market – one on Szpitalna street and the other on Slawkowska. The first one has an eating-house on the first floor and a restaurant downstairs, where the prices are a little bit higher and where you can listen to live piano music.
Personally I prefer the other one. The place on Slawkowska is hard to find but don’t be put off trying to do this, it’s worth it. The eating-house is in the undergrounds of Polish Skills Acadamy and from the outside the building has a formal look. You need to enter and walk through until you see glass automatic doors on your left which lead to a courtyard. There will be a sign of Babcia Malina showing that the place is located downstairs.
Inside, this place has everything – it’s decorated as if you’re in a wooden house, the decor style brings us to the pre-war era like in the Zalipianki area. But it is not the only design element – in the middle there’s a big aquarium and on the walls you can see pictures of sportsmen and their trophies. Sounds strange but even that all fits together.
Dishes are very generous, food is good and at a very good price… In the restaurant you’ll always find some foreigners. Worth going for the experience & decor.
