If I were to choose just one type of place that’s most characteristic for Kraków, it would be a dim coffee pub in an old building, with mysterious art pieces on the wall, quirky habitues and staff that’s more than happy to share some life advice. All this is included in the unwritten (more like spoken at the bar counter!) philosophy of Cafe Philo.
While at Philo, you’re very likely to encounter a grey-haired gentleman who’ll introduce himself to you as Włodek. If that happens, you’re lucky to meet one of the most distinctive members of the Kraków bohema. Don’t worry if Polish still remains a bunch of rustling sounds for you. Just sit back, let your thoughts run freely and enjoy the unique atmosphere you’re unlikely to find anywhere else.
This remarkable place is open 24/7 and located several blocks from Floriańska, the main street going from the central station to the Main Square. Drop by for coffee in the daylight or something boozy (I especially recommend the second option) after the sun goes down!
