Pierogi (dumplings) is one of the most popular Polish dishes. The filling can be either savory (e.g. ruskie, with meat or cabbage, vegetarian) or sweet (with white cheese or fruits). If you ask Polish people what their favourite taste is – I’m sure that at least half of them will say that it’s ruskie, with potatoes and white cheese.
It is worth noticing that all the dumplings in Przypiecek are prepared by hand, without any machines, according to traditional recipes used by the old housewives. I think that everyone will find their favorite taste – they offer traditional fillings like meat, cabbage and mushrooms, potatoes and cheese but also modern ones with spinach and salmon, broccoli or liver and buckwheat. If it’s hard for you to choose, you can always order one of 3 mixes (vegetarian, traditional or fanciful). The list of traditional dishes complements barszcz czerwony (red borscht soup), kapuśniak (cabbage soup), żurek, kompot, meat croquettes and pancakes with cheese.
The decor inside reminds me of an old cottage house from the beginning of the century, there is a lot of kitchen equipment not used today and even a ‘tuned’ stove. As they say, inside this stove sits a granny who prepares those delicious dumplings ;-).
In Przypiecek you can order dumplings 24/7 so it can be a new, ‘secular’ tradition to visit this place before (or after) a party; of course during the day is an even better option.
