Usually in Krakow, because everyone knows each other, news travels fast. It does not come as a surprise then that when something new on the gastronomy front appeared, it did not take long for it to be mentioned on Facebook, in papers and obviously – in conversations. The impressions did not leave me much choice, but to visit ZaKładka.
Located in the increasingly popular Podgórze, it’s a quiet, elegant French bistro. On the menu you’ll find interesting, elegant dishes, sometimes all-time classics but with a new “twist”. They’re accompanied by a wine list, which those with more expertise than mine would consider impressive; and you – with the help of a waiter, can choose from. The interior is calm, elegant – modern, but no extravagance involved. Relaxed yet still classy. Whether you’re 20, 40 or 80, you’ll still fit in.
And lucky you! Because once you enter, you’re in a better world. I apologise, but there’s no way to rave about it any less. The waiters, kind and polite, will take care of you and do their best so that you’ll enjoy your visit. All questions are welcome and will be answered, advice will be given (eagerly, sometimes even when not requested, but still politely), so that you can best enjoy your meal. Because, after all, that’s what restaurants are (or rather: should be) all about – enjoying the art of cooking in good company. Here, they manage to fulfill this concept and it’d be almost wrong not to take advantage of it.
